NIT Calicut
Seems like the 6th round of ccb counselling brought with it some great news after the dissapointment of the 5th round.
I was finally allotted CSE at NIT Calicut (which I deserved in the 5th round if CCB hadn't messed up
).
It was exhilarating, phone calls to make, stuff to pack up, tickets to book..! Getting the "No Dues" certificate stamped all over the campus was irritating though.. although it was done somehow…
So.. car to delhi.. 12 hours of pain.. night over at le meridien (amazing hotel) early flight to calicut.. (via mumbai AND coimbatore
So, went in.. took some time finding where the admissions were taking place, though the process went smooth enough (unlike the running around in NIT Hamirpur)..
Okay everything going great, then they dropped the bombshell, hostel office is closed (was saturday), please come back on monday (and btw, parent must be there)..
We ran to calicut city.. wasted time looking for a hotel and finally landed up in Hotel Asma Towers (decent for the price). Wasted another 2 days in calicut city trying to comprehend malayali and returned on monday morning to find a long queue for the hostel admission..
Somehow we got the room (finally) to find out that the inmates had gone home for Onam (and locked the room in the process), so.. after standing and roaming around for 5~6 hours with no one coming to open the door, I realised that something was wrong and got a temp room allotted.
Stayed there somehow for 4 more days and finally, the guys returned today. After shifting and unpacking all my luggage (have to reduce it.. way too much).. finally settled down..
Now looking forward to classes beginning from monday!
